This festival is honour in the birth of Lord Rama of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra, month according to Hindu Calendar. This day is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ram, the son of king Dasaratha who is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu which falls in the month of March-April by the Hindu calendar. Lord Rama, who became king of Ayodhya , was known for his Ideal qualities . He was popular, brave, kind, just, intelligent, patient, loving, obedient and dutiful. Lord Rama is always worshiped with his consort Sita, brother Lakshmana and devotee Hanuman it’s significance is to get success of good evil. Many people fast on this day and eat only fruits until night time. Some visit a temple while others pray in their homes. People also pray with music and dance which is known as ‘kirtan’. People believed to be Lord Rama born in noon, so all the temples are arranged in the traditional way and prayers are done in the morning itself. Special havans along with Vedic chanting of mantras are organized in the temple People sing songs to praise lord Ram. The icon of baby lord Ram is also worshipped. They wash it and put new clothes on it. Many people give food and clothes to the poor. Rathayatras are taken out in many places,on the occasion the statues of Lord Rama, Lakshmana, Hanuman and goddess Sita is placed on a chariot. This chariot is decorated with lights and flowers.
